the cash on hand is not -- if we learned anything from mitt romney last night is that a debate for which he didn't pay a penny is nothing short of the prices. cash might be king, but you can't be king if you don't get your butt before voters. your fat cat handlers will understand. they want you elected. just say you elect to stay away from them, as far as possible, until you are. charlie, what he makes of all of this because, think about it, more bang for the buck, that is governor romney on a free night with 60 million people potentially watching. >> right. it's ironic his big money people, reported on your show, i believe, last week, they were imploring him to get out more and do -- neil: stop talking to us. >> fundraise, get out there, get paul ryan out there. paul ryan denied it. i believe he was muzzled. i don't care. he should be out there more. mitt romney should be out there more. neil: how are they feeling now? >> today? neil: today. >> off the charts. they are doing fairly significant in the campaign, off the moon. i don't think they'll have a problem raising money. they were w

romney obviously did well enough in the primary debates to make it this far, no doubt. although most of his competition wasn't as tough as president obama. romney also had some memorable moments. >> i'll tell you what. $10,000 bet? >> i'm not in the betting business. >> the answer is self-deportation, which is people decide they can do better by going home because they can't find work here because they don't have legal departmentation to allow them to work here. >> i can't have illegals. rick, i'm speaking. i'm speaking. you get 30 seconds. this is the way the rules work here is i get 60 seconds. and then you get 30 seconds to respond, right? >> well, let's bring in democratic strategist chris ko kofinis and susan del percio. i think romney is going to lose his cool. susan, did governor chris christie think he was helping mitt romney by saying that the debate would just be turning this race upside down? what do you think? >> i think chris christie was just being chris christie. while you're correct, a lot of people were dampening expectations, chris said what a lot of p

after the debate they were in the 60's, which is to say in this debate romney had two tasks. one was to explain why the president has failed and be very aggressive there that and then he had another task that sort of conflicted with the first in that he needs to be appealing enough that people would like him, find something worth voting for him about not just because they didn't like barack obama. well that number in the instant poll which those are fluky and shouldn't put too much emphasis on them but gives us inkling of where the currents are going. that's good for romney. i'll echo mike the campaign needed a pause in what was a slide. i think they got the pause and the question is now when you thank you about a new romney, he's had a lot of different iterations in his life. you can imagine the obama campaign trying to make sofg a mediocre debate will jump on that notion of new and say he's created a whole new persona than the guy who ran in the primaries. >> rose: norah. >> president obama left his greatest hit on the cutting room floor. there was no mention of bain or no
